Appalachian Electric Power (AEP) and the Giles County Partnerships for Excellence Foundation (GCPEF) are working together on the Cumberland Park project in Narrows, Virginia. We, the undersigned, are adamantly opposed to this project and its plan to place approximately 254,000 cubic yards of coal combustion waste from AEP's coal-burning power plant in the floodplain of the New River. We are concerned about the negative environmental and public health effects that this project may create, as well as the legality of the GCPE's operation in conjunction with this particular project.
